Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: The Sunny Deol starrer is off to a great start at the box office.
Border 2 Box Office Pickup Day 1: While many trade analysts were curious to see if Border 2 could live up to the legacy of its iconic prequel Border (1997), the film appears to have done just that. Not only did it receive very positive reviews, but it also grossed Rs 30 million at the domestic box office on its opening day, proving that several industry predictions were correct, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh later shared that the film earned Rs 32.1 crore on the opening day.
The film recorded an overall occupancy of 32.1 per cent, with maximum crowd numbers seen during the night shows. Border 2 has launched in nearly 6,000 shows in India, including 1,015 shows in Mumbai and 1,524 shows in the Delhi-NCR region, according to the trade publication.

A similar trend was seen during the release of Dhurandhar on December 5. The film was released with a price tag of Rs 28 crore in India with 6,146 screenings across the country and saw significant growth over the weekend due to strong word of mouth. Border 2 is expected to follow a similar trajectory, especially after receiving positive reactions from audiences, with many calling it an “epic war drama.”

The film has also become the biggest release in the careers of Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh. For Sunny Deol, however, Gadar 2 remains his biggest-opening and highest-grossing film, having grossed Rs 686 crore worldwide over his four-decade career. Till now, Dilwale (2015) remains Varun Dhawan’s highest-grossing film with a worldwide collection of Rs 388 crore.
Border 2 marks Varun Dhawan’s first blockbuster since his 2023 release Bhediya. For Ahan Shetty, who debuted with Tadap in 2021, this film becomes the first successful outing of his career.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is produced by JP Dutta along with his daughter Nidhi Dutta. The film also features Sonam Bajwa and Mona Singh in pivotal roles.
Now it remains to be seen if Border 2 can make box office history and surpass the records set by Dhurandhar. However, the release of Border 2 has already put a damper on Dhurandhar’s impressive career, with the film earning less than Rs 1 crore for the first time in almost 50 days.
